  We came in here for a drink before an event in The Town Hall in Feb 2020 and glancing at the bar menu we promised ourselves we would come back... read more for a meal sometime soon. Then lockdown happened. It was the first place we went to when things opened up again, and we did the same after subsequent lockdowns. Most recently last Sunday. Every meal has been a delight and for Sunday lunch incredible value. Recommend their delicious mussels and I have always enjoyed the fish dish of the day which is accompanied by unique and delicious vegetables such as butter beans in a ragout with kale. Himself veers towards the lamb, or the beef, and has raved about his choices too with great and generous sides! Aside from the wonderful food we must commend the delightful staff who are warm and friendly with no false friendliness or pretentiousness. They are either super well trained or just born that way! Anyway we will continue to return, it is worth the train journey from Co. Clare!

I enjoyed my meal and the portion size was just enough but my partner ordered steak which was cooked rare rather than medium. He wasn’t overly bothered about this as it was still edible but it would’ve been nice to have it cooked how he asked. The menu is quite limited to options, don’t know if I would go back here if ever visiting again but what food they had available was very nice.

The menu says everything but the cow steak comes with veg and potatoes, and makes it clear it comes with chips instead. So the menu needs updating to make it accurate/clear. We both had the sirloin steak and it is one of the nicest steaks I've eaten. I ordered mine to be medium/pink and it was still a little under done for me. I was still okay to eat it and it was just as nice as to my preference for a more well done steak. The onion rings are a delicious combo to have with it.

I went for the garlic butter and my partner had the pepper whiskey sauce, slightly a little watery but tasted delicious.

I ordered from the wine menu and went with the staffs choice. It was quiet a nice wine and the selection on the menu was brilliant.

Usually we only have dinner as we do be too full for dessert but the mains was that good we chose dessert too.

Both of us went for the creme brulee and it was that good I'll be back again just for that.

The staff could not do enough for us and where so warm and welcoming. We enjoyed chatting away with them.

For a nice night out or a special occasion, here is worth a visit.

The root veggies were really good and the big onion rings were also very good. Ask for the peppercorn sauce with this meal, it’s so good you could drink it with a straw. And, as every good bar in Ireland the Guinness was perfect and poured perfect.

This visit was... read more no different even with covid restrictions and protocols we didn’t feel it impacted our visit . We booked a couple weeks in advance as with it being Christmas week we new it would be hard sourced . Emer who took the booking was a pleasure to deal with and explain the protocols and time limit we had , our friends also booked and they had the same thing to say . While we couldn’t sit together Emer was happy to place them close to us while maintaining a safe distance.
Food was incredible that night the steaks top class , cauliflower curry full of flavour and the brownie for desert really ended the meal on a high. Even our friends on the next table couldn’t fault a thing so much so they rebooked the next day again for an early sitting . We were served by the wonderful Aoife H that night who couldn’t be more helpful when explaining the menu wine and serving us through the evening. Even with the uncertainty and announcement of a third lockdown she was extremely professional and didn’t let the news impact her service . She also served our friends again the next day and was still as friendly as ever .
Our friends have found a new favourite in Galway and no doubt will be all back when we can.

It was draughty and cool. Not the restaurant I was expecting. Service was extremely slow. The mains of chicken and plaice were very unimpressive whilst the lamb shoulder was ok. The sides were miserly and very so so. (I wonder if we even got what was due?). The staff were generally nice. During the meal I received an email to say that my reservation had been cancelled, I assume as we were considered a “no show!” I mentioned this to the manager who brusquely informed me that my table had been given away because we were late. The place was not overly busy and I think that out of basic courtesy we should have been told when being seated that we wouldn’t be getting a seat in the restaurant. We would have taken our business elsewhere at this stage!
Overall a bitter disappointment for a birthday treat.
